OmniTouch 8400 Instant Communications Suite Applications

Telephony Services:

Telephony Services is a real-time communication application enabling easy and quick integration of telephony into the PC workflow process. Users increase efficiency by enhancing their PC with the full range of PBX telephony features, including call by name, corporate directories, mobility services with DECT and WiFi handsets, associated phone set management, VoIP and voice and E-mail messaging integration. Furthermore, this application is fully open to other modern office applications (using TAPI, MAPI, LDAP) and business applications (integration of DDE, OLE, Active X). This media blending is a big step ahead in business efficiency, providing seamless integration with MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, NetMeeting direct calls, screen pop-ups, synchronization of personal directories, data conferencing, etc.

The user accesses Telephony Services via the My Instant Communication client, however the My IC clients actual user interface can appear in several formats:

  • As a dedicated PC application
  • Integrated directly into MS Outlook or Lotus Notes
  • As a new page and soft-keys on an IP Touch desk phone
  • On a mobile device such as a Blackberry or Windows Mobile SmartPhone
  • Using a web browser
  • From the 4980 SoftPhone application
  • Via a custom-designed user interface in business applications (requires creation).

My IC can use any existing telset (desk set, mobile, home phone, etc) for the voice-path, or in most cases can also use a VoIP module to enable voice-path via the PC itself.

One-Number Services:

One-Number Services provides call routing, call screening, voice-based access and configuration, web access, Microsoft Outlook and IBM Lotus Notes integration, universal directory access, IP-Touch applications and a web services interface. It can be thought of as an advanced Find-me / Follow-me solution and defines which calls get through and when. Using any device, you can set up and activate rules to forward and screen calls based on time of day and upon caller's identity. For instance you can set up a rule to forward an important customer call between 7.00 PM and 9.00 PM week days to your cell phone whilst at the same time forwarding other calls to the voice mail.

Messaging Services:

Messaging Services includes several powerful tools and three storage options:

  • Unified Messaging:

    This is a true VxML unified messaging application for Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino and IMAP4 servers. Voice messages are stored in .wav format directly in the users email boxes on the email servers already in place within the enterprise. It is an ideal solution that leverages existing mail servers for handling non-real-time communication tools with a single multimedia mail box.

  • Local Messaging:

    In this case, the user has 2 Inboxes the regular email Inbox for the email server and a second Inbox for voicemail. The voicemail is stored on the ICS Server.

  • Integrated Messaging:

    In this configuration, the customer site is already using an Alcatel-Lucent OmniMessage 4635 or 4645 voicemail server, which the OmniTouch 8400 ICS integrates with. The user gets 2 inboxes in his email client; one for regular email and one for voicemail. The ICS handles the presentation of the voicemail, but the messages are stored on the 4635/4645.

  • Automated Attendant:

    The OmniTouch 8400 ICS integrated Auto Attendant features Text-To-Speech prompting and DTMF signal recognition, allowing callers to route to destinations inside the company. A graphical interface can be used for management.

  • Fax:

    A component of the Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch 8400 Instant Communications Suite is the OmniTouch 8450 Fax Software. However, the ICS is also compatible with OmniMessage 4635 Fax, as well as with other industry leaders such as Right Fax, Imecom, Interstar, etc.

  • Teamwork Services:

    Teamwork Services (also called My Teamwork) enables knowledge sharing and collaboration through presence-aware voice and data conferencing. Through a simple-to-use buddy interface, employees can initiate conferences on the fly or scheduled on a regular basis including audio, video, data & application sharing. My Teamwork also provides presence information and instant messaging to facilitate effective real-time team communication.
